Because we don’t have internet or network access we would need to install guest additions to share files between the host computer and the guest OS, in this case Windows XP. In order to do almost anything on the web, when using 'names' for the URL, like www.cnn.com, the name is sent to a DNS which translates it into an IP Address and then the requesting process uses that to complete the task.
